It may not be KitKat 4.4, but at least the Sony Xperia M is getting updated to a newer Android version. According the company's website, the Sony handset is now receiving the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update.
As usual, the Sony Xperia M Android 4.3 update will be rolled out in phases so the ETA varies by country and carrier. If your device is eligible for the new firmware, you will receive a system update message in the notification area. Sometimes, a firmware update can be found after a manual check is performed. In order to do so you must head to Settings > About Phone > System Update > Check for updates.
The Android 4.3 update for Sony Xperia M is labeled 15.4.A.0.23 and it brings smoother UI and graphics, improved Battery STAMINA Mode, Camera app improvements with added Burst Mode, Superior Auto and more, plus the latest security enhancements from Jelly Bean. You also get updated versions of Sony's native apps such as Walkman, Album, or Movies.
Because most Sony Xperia SP devices were already running Android 4.2.2, the changes brought by the Android 4.3 update aren't too big, but you should be able to notice improved performance, less bugs, and better battery life.
