Android 16 was officially released in June 2025, marking the beginning of another major upgrade cycle for Android users. As with every new version, the key questions arise once again: Will my phone get the update? And if so, when? We’ve taken a close look at which smartphone models are set to receive Android 16 — and which ones are likely to follow soon.

Xiaomi: Android 16 with HyperOS 3.0

Nothing Phones: Mixed Support for Android 16
Although Nothing is a relatively young player in the smartphone market, it has already built a solid user base. The company is expected to roll out Android 16 via Nothing OS 4.0. However, support ends here for the Nothing Phone (1), which has already received three major Android updates.
Devices likely to get the update include:
-
Nothing Phone (3a), 3a Pro
-
Nothing Phone (2)
-
Nothing Phone (2a), 2a Plus
-
CMF Phone 2 Pro, CMF Phone 1
Bugs Reported in Early Android 16 Rollout
While Android 16 promises new features and improvements, the early rollout hasn’t been without issues. Several Pixel users on Reddit have reported problems with navigation buttons and gesture controls after updating. The buttons at the bottom of the screen — used to go back, return home, or view recent apps — are reportedly unresponsive. Gesture navigation also fails to function properly in some cases.
According to Artem Russakovskii from Android Police, the issue appears randomly on his Pixel 9 XL. The bug seems to affect only the latest generation of Pixel devices, as some Pixel 8 users on Reddit have not experienced any problems.
Temporary Fixes and Workarounds
At present, there is no permanent fix for the bug. Restarting the phone temporarily resolves the issue, but the problem often reappears at random times. Some affected users mentioned that the issue disappeared after uninstalling third-party launchers. If you’re facing similar problems, try switching to the default launcher to see if that resolves the issue.
Alternatively, updating to the Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 may help. To do this, users must enroll their devices via Google’s official beta program using the Google account linked to their device.
Final Thoughts
Android 16 is rolling out steadily across major smartphone brands, starting with Pixel and soon reaching Samsung, Xiaomi, and others. While early bugs are a cause for concern, most users can expect a smoother experience as further patches and updates arrive. Keep an eye on your device’s update settings — and be ready for the next big evolution in Android.
